Exmouth - What sort of town do we want?
This section of the web-site sets down some of the options that are available to us. Obviously, completely transforming the town into something entirely different is not an option. To a certain extent we are stuck with what we have got and, whatever we decide, we are going to have to start from here.
Nevertheless, there is still a considerable scope for modifying the directions in which the town is developed and we should not accept aspects of the town with which we are unhappy! Some problems exist, for example seagulls and litter which we should take positive steps to resolve. If we do not, they will not go away and will remain a nuisance for the future.
Deciding upon the type of town that we want is by far the most difficult decision that we need to make. It requires considerable debate. It is easy to end with a statement of the form "......dynamic and diverse range of facilities meeting the needs of residents and holidaymakers.". This will not do! What we need is a clear statement of what facilities we would like to actually see and the types of people that we would wish to attract to them. We want to make Exmouth special. Throughout we should be asking "How does this make Exmouth different from other towns?"
What do we want to find in Exmouth?
What do we NOT want in Exmouth?
If we have answered "Yes" to any of the above, we MUST sit down and work out how we are going to eliminate the nuisance. They are not going to go away unless we take the time to make it happen! |
